Don’t bother thanking us-just watch at least one of these impactful films this weekend instead.Īll products featured on Glamour are independently selected by our editors. That’s why we did the heavy lifting to find the best true story movies for you. Eldest son of NYC real estate mogul, Sanford Marks, David and his father have never been. Of course, not every movie can do a person’s story justice. Mimicking the Durst story itself, ALL GOOD THINGS gives us David Marks. These stories are fun to watch because they’re equal parts educational and entertaining (if done correctly. But doesn’t it feel more impactful to remember that these were real-life heroes? Movies based on true stories can also call people to action: You can’t shake off the enraging ending of a story like Judas and the Black Messiah, about the death of activist Fred Hampton, because it’s “just a movie.” The film’s title is a reference to a health store of the same name set up by Durst and McCormack in the 1970s. Or take the award-winning movie Hidden Figures-the plot, about the Black women who played crucial roles in the space race, is inspirational on its own. The All Good Things screenplay was written by Marcus Hinchey and Marc Smerling as a narrative loosely based on the real life experiences of Robert Durst, a real estate heir whose first wife, Kathleen McCormack, disappeared in 1982. Zac Efron is so convincing as serial killer Ted Bundy in Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, for example, that you might need to sleep with the lights on after watching. The stakes are just higher, you know? When you know a story actually happened it makes the drama, tension, romance, or intrigue feel that much greater. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching true-story movies.

If you don`t know what to do in the next 110 minutes, devote that time to watching Nôgêmu nôraifu: Zero and you won`t be disappointed. Nôgêmu nôraifu: Zero immerses the viewer in the atmosphere perfectly created by the director. Nôgêmu nôraifu: Zero review by Soap2day One day, in the ruins of an Elf city, he meets Shuvi, a female exiled ”Ex-machina” android who asks him to teach her what it means to have a human heart. Amid the chaos and destruction, a young man named Riku leads humanity toward the tomorrow his heart believed in. Six thousand years before Sora and Shiro were even a blink in the history of Disboard, war consumed the land, tearing apart the heavens, destroying stars, and even threatening to wipe out the human race. When a subordinate of the Russian Terror called the Japanese and Moroha weak because Moroha was unwilling to kill him, Moroha drew his sword and stabbed the man in the gut, while torturing him with the blade. Moroha does not tolerate being underestimated or called weak and when serious, he can surprise his opponents with his powers. This is shown when the Russian Terror pleads for her life and to remain in power, and Moroha responds with the idea that they simply need to stop taking if they don't want to be taken from. Moroha also demonstrates a strong distaste and anger towards those who take from him and others. Even if it meant that he would have to sacrifice his freedom in becoming an S-Rank and fighting Sir Edward Lampard to prove it. He also doesn't like being given credit for his actions as he didn't want to be promoted for defeating the Hydra as Shizuno Urushibara's brother continued to push him to do so.Īlthough Moroha tends to have respect for those higher ranked than him, he won't hesitate to go against them if it means protecting his friends since he disobeyed Jin Isurugi's choice to not initially assist Shizuno or Satsuki Ranjou breaking inside of the mansion of Tadanori Urushibara, the Chairman of Akane Academy due to her transfer to England on the orders of her brother and taking her, much to her pleasure. Though if those who are close to him are in danger or are messed with, then he won't hesitate to stand up for them, which stems from the time he was unable to save his parents with a blood transfusion as a child. In spite of his strength and abilities, he doesn't desire to be known as the "number one" in class ignoring the constant provocation from Gen Isurugi. He is an honorable young man willing to protect the weak and his friends which he has done in his previous lives. He does not consider himself a hero of justice nor does he enjoy fighting, but due to his past and being unable to save his parents, he does not want anyone else to go through the feeling of losing a family member or someone loved, which is demonstrated when he wanted to help Elena Arshavina. He is a kind person, but at the same time he is lazy and does not enjoy being recognised or praised much. Moroha is usually shown as a normal good-hearted young man. –Moroha before defeating the Nine-Headed Hydra I.WILL DEFINITELY NOT FORGIVE ANYONE WHO WILL TAKE THOSE TWO FROM ME!!!! And one of the reasons that I replaced the AirPorts here is that my MBA would frequently take minutes to reconnect when they were re-awakened from sleep - it was faster to toggle WiFi off and on than wait. They also download and install firmware updates on their own. But, the better news is that you just don’t have to use the interface once the devices are set - they are rock-solid in my experience, you can still configure DNS and create IP reservations if you want to. There is definitely no configuration with a browser with a terrible UI - it’s through an iOS or Android app instead. I’ve had them at the summer house for a couple of summers now, and here at home I just replaced three Airport routers with Eero version 2 when they went on sale several weeks ago. Nobody has mentioned them yet, but I have been using Eero for a while now. We don’t recommend that for most people, though, and would encourage you to check out Wirecutter’s guides to routers and mesh-networking kits. Those who are invested in AirPort hardware for some reason can keep buying them while Apple’s stock lasts. Your device will continue to work fine for the foreseeable future, and if major security issues come to light, Apple will likely release a firmware update, as it did late last year for the KRACK vulnerability (see “ AirPort Base Station Firmware Updates 7.6.9 and 7.7.9 ,” 12 December 2017). If you still use an AirPort router, don’t panic. I explained my rationale in “ How to Ensure High-speed Internet Access When Buying a New Home,”. When you consider that a good router starts at around $150 these days - Wirecutter’s current recommendation is more than that - and that a router generally lasts about 3–4 years, I’m paying less than $150 every 4 years for a commercial-grade router that will be replaced for free if it malfunctions. (Some people seem shocked that I rent a router. I use a Wi-Fi router that I rent from my ISP for $3 per month, and it works great. There’s truth in that - for most people, inexpensive wireless routers work well these days, and for those with larger spaces, mesh systems like the Eero have eliminated the hassle of extending networks. IMore’s Rene Ritchie suggested in a YouTube video that Apple decided that Wi-Fi routing has essentially become a solved problem and that it had nothing else to contribute. While Apple ignored its AirPort base stations, the wireless industry was evolving, with mesh networking products like Eero becoming popular (see “ Eero Provides Good Wi-Fi Coverage in a Handsome Package ,” 25 June 2016). The writing was on the wall when Glenn Fleishman discussed possible replacements in 2015 (see “ Alternatives to Apple’s Wi-Fi Base Stations ,” 22 December 2015). The AirPort’s decline was slow and hard to watch - Apple last revised the hardware in 2013 (see “ 802.11ac Promises Better Coverage, but Won’t Hit Advertised Speeds ,” 13 June 2013). It went through numerous industrial design and hardware changes, and eventually split into three products: the flagship AirPort Extreme, the smaller AirPort Express with support for AirPlay, and the AirPort Time Capsule, which combined an AirPort Extreme with a hard drive for use with the Mac’s Time Machine backup feature. When unveiled by Steve Jobs in 1999, the AirPort base station helped popularize wireless networking at a time when broadband was just entering homes. Its passing was not unexpected by the Apple community. Apple made the announcement to 9to5Mac and other media outlets. The AirPort line of wireless routers has passed away at the age of 18 after a several-year illness. #1667: OS Rapid Security Responses, 1Password and 2FA, using Siri to request music.#1668: Updated Rapid Security Responses, OS public betas, screen saver bug fixed, “Red Team Blues” book review.#1669: OS security updates, ambiguity of emoji, small business payments with Melio, Twitter now X.#1670: Arc Web browser hits 1.0 release, “Do You Use It?” polls about Apple features.#1671: Apple Q3 2023 earnings, new Beats headphones and earbuds, Stage Manager adoption rate, do you use Spotlight?. But one that I thought was really creepy was when the Ghostbusters all go into a subway car and then the lights go off and then suddenly the lights turn back on and there are skellitons everywhere, it kinda reminds me of the twist in an episode of "Tales from the Darkside" that gave me chills. One really creepy and slightly disturbing moment was when we see condemned souls forced to row a boat for all eternity going practically nowhere. There are a lot of fun and creepy moments. And of course as usual it's a rocky road as they get to one predicament after another almost like a video game which is ironic I say that since several video games based on the "Ghostbusters" were made. However what I really like about this episode is that it's plays out like a straight forward action adventure, as we see the Ghostbusters have to simply get from point A to B to save the day. Not a lot I can say about this episode, I like that once again this episode gets into a bit of Lovecraftian territory as it's simply about an ancient doorway to another dimention (or possibly Hell itself) gets opened. Once again by one of my favorate writers J Michael Styrinski whom just writes some of the best episodes in the show this is one of them. By the end, you may love it, and you may very well hate it-but either way, it's a ride worth taking. This episode is my forth favorate episode of the show. It's hard for a 3 hour and 15 minute movie to not be boring, but this movie somehow makes that time fly. Less a horror than a surreal existential dread bonanza, Beau is Afraid is also quite funny throughout. You'll spend much of Beau is Afraid wondering how much of the movie you're watching is really happening, and how much is a hallucination, eventually seeing things devolve into what's almost a David Lynch-esque abstraction of real life and pure nightmares. Joaquin Phoenix stars as the titular Beau, in a movie that tells its audience immediately that they're watching a heightened world where everything for its sad-sack protagonist is at its horrifying and anxiety-inducing most. And while it absolutely will not be for everyone, it was, in fact, for me. And these are the movies we think will be able to do it.Īre you ready to be disturbed? Are you ready to be shaken to your core? Are you ready to leave a movie theater thinking "what the hell did I just watch?" Ari Aster ( Hereditary, Midsommar) is without question one of the most brilliant writers/directors in modern horror, and his new A24 behemoth of a film Beau is Afraid-coming in at 3 hours and 15 minutes-is poised to be one of the most polarizing movies of the year. This year will keep us entertained, happy, and excited. If you were questioning how movies would recover from the lows of 2020. And if you love good directors, well, this is a year for you: Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer and Greta Gerwig's Barbie ( Barbenheimer!) proved to be just as good as we thought they would be, and Martin Scorsese's The Killers of the Flower Moon (with Jesse Plemons, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro in tow), David Fincher's The Killer will hit Netflix, and Yorgos Lanthimos' Poor Things are all still on the way. Liked Top Gun: Maverick? Tom Cruise went even bigger with Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, the seventh film in his long-running stunt-heavy spy franchise. Horror has been shining, with Scream 6 leading the way and A24's Talk To Me proving to be a sleeper work of twisted art. The Batmanand Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverproved that superhero movies can be artful, Sam Raimi took his shot with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessto prove that an old horror master can still make things happen with a big budget, and Steven Spielberg showed us how one of the greatest directors of all time (Steven Spielberg) came to be in The Fabelmans.Ģ023 is hoping to keep that momentum going. Tár and The Banshees of Inisherin gave us some incredible performances from Cate Blanchett and Colin Farrell that left us thinking for a long time. The Whale ushered in a masterful, acclaimed, comeback performance from Brendan Fraser. Movies like Top Gun: Maverickand Avatar: The Way of Waterdominated the box office on the big screen, in such a significant, dramatic way, that drama like 2020's " Tenet has been delayed over and over again" feels like a distant memory.īut 2022 didn't just see success at the movies by way of the box office we also saw movies that managed to remind us why we love this stuff in the first place. After 2022, it's hard to remember how much danger it felt like ~the movies~ were in, back in, say, 2020 and the early part of 2021. But for a handful of them, they could grant you a small fortune. Many Pokémon cards can be found for relatively cheap. I for one sold my entire collection at a flea market as a kid just to pay for the latest trend (which was Yu-Gi-Oh, by the way). Prices can vary drastically depending on what condition the card is in, if it is holographic, if there's a printing error, or some other feature. If you're kicking yourself over the fact that you got rid of your collection years ago, don't. But as it is one of the most popular franchises in the world, there are some cards whose values have increased exponentially over the years. Pokémon isn't the first series or thing to receive trading cards that collectors fantasize about, and they won't be the last. We're here to talk about the time-honored tradition of collecting trading cards. But we're not here to talk about the video games. Card image courtesy of introducing new mechanics and new creatures in their games, Nintendo has been able to keep fans not only interested but ecstatic at the thought of a new entry to their beloved series. If there’s no shadow visible along the edge, then you have a Shadowless card. Look closely at the border of your Base Set cards. A first generation Charizard card, for example, is going for up to around 2,500 (£. It depends on what generation and edition it is. Shadowless cards have become collector’s items because only a small amount of them exist. Some, though not all, Pokémon cards are worth a fortune now. Therefore, all of the cards from the original print run are referred to as Shadowless. One set of 11 glossy Monroe pogs is listed for 750.00. But what does this term mean and how can you tell if your card is Shadowless?Īfter the first print run of Base Set Pokemon cards, a drop shadow was added to the art box to spruce up the design a bit. Marilyn Monroe still appeals to collectors decades after her death, and sets of Marilyn Monroe pogs are some of the most valuable pogs today. For example, a Shadowless Base Set Charizard card typically sells for a few thousand dollars on eBay. You may have heard the term “Shadowless” tossed around when referring to extremely valuable Pokemon cards. Sometimes these cards look no different than others of the same kind at first glance and require special attention to identify, so look carefully! Shadowless These are often printing errors or limited distribution that led to a card becoming extremely precious to collectors. Special Cards to Keep an Eye Out ForĪside from the various rares mentioned above, there are a few unique traits worth looking out for that can mean a Pokemon card has high value. Having a card graded requires a fee, so reserve grading for cards you know have value. This serves to show buyers the card’s condition has been professionally determined and that it has been verified as real.Typically, cards have more value after being graded, so it’s worth considering if you find a valuable card in your collection. Cards in practically perfect condition receive the coveted “Gem Mint” rating, which raises its value further. After being graded, the card is sealed in a hard protective case and officially labeled with its grade. Today, we’re going to discuss if Pokemon tins are worth anything and what you can do with them. Do you have extra Pokemon tins that you no longer use If you’re wondering what to do with them, you’ve come to the right page. The higher the number grade, the more a card is worth. After the cards have been removed, the Pokemon tins aren’t worth anything. If you determine a card is worth selling, you may want to consider having it professionally authenticated and graded. The most popular third-party grading service is PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) and there are other well-known services such as BGS (Beckett Grading Services) and SCG (Sports Card Guarantee).Having a card graded mainly serves to gauge its condition on a 1-10 scale, with 10 being the best. These flaws are less impactful on value and are usually only factored in when having the card professionally graded. Then there are minor imperfections, such as centering and chipping, that are a result of how well the card was printed. This kind of damage can severely lower the value of a card. There are obvious flaws such as scratches, bends, and tears, usually caused by playing with the cards or not storing them properly. Any card you think may have value should be stored in a protective sleeve and kept out of direct sunlight to preserve its condition.Ī perfect mint or near-mint condition card will usually sell for full price, while any flaws will cause it to lose value. Once you’ve figured out which cards in your collection are rare enough to consider selling, the next step is to assess their condition.
